Lufthansa Unveils New A320 Cabin

Lufthansa has announced a retrofit programme for its Airbus A320 fleet. A total of 38 aircraft will receive new seats, USB ports at every seat, as well as integrated holders for tablets and smartphones.
The first Airbus A320, registered D-AIZY, has already been fully modernised and returned to service in mid-February. The remaining aircraft will be upgraded progressively, with the full conversion of all 38 jets scheduled for completion by 2029.
New seats from Italian manufacturer Geven are designed to provide enhanced comfort compared to the previous generation. Horizontally adjustable headrests add further support, while Business Class passengers benefit from a seat with a notably deeper recline.
Cabin storage has also been improved, with overhead bins now 40 percent larger, offering space for significantly more carry-on luggage and helping to streamline boarding.
Across both cabins, every seat is equipped with USB-A and USB-C ports, allowing passengers to charge personal devices throughout the flight. Each seat also includes a dedicated holder for tablets and smartphones, supporting hands-free viewing.
The upgrade highlights how even short-haul cabins are increasingly shaped around comfort and functionality – where improved seating ergonomics, better device integration and smoother boarding processes can contribute meaningfully to passenger well-being.
